I met James at one of the showflat when we were planning to buy a luxury condo. James was our consultant and he was very friendly and also explain in details and share lots of info.

What are the biggest mistakes when it comes to property investment?

People choose condominiums just because they are the cheapest in terms of per square foot.

  • Unclear objective: Buying for a homestay, but hopefully for investment, and realising you can’t sell later due to the wrong bedroom type.
  • No exit strategy
  • Lottery-style selection: Choosing units solely based on pool facing, or ‘lucky-number-floor’ or high floor.

What are the monthly costs of owning a condo?

Beyond the purchase price, condo owners must pay monthly maintenance fees (Service & Conservancy Charges). These fees cover the upkeep of facilities like the swimming pool, gym, and 24-hour security. The cost usually depends on the “share value” of your unit—larger units generally pay higher maintenance fees.

What is the difference between a condo and an apartment?

In Singapore, the main difference is the land size. A development is officially classified as a condominium if the land area is at least 4,000 square meters. If the land area is smaller, it is classified as an apartment. For owners, the facilities in a condo (like tennis courts and larger gardens) are usually more extensive due to the larger land size.
